What are the laws on personal property abandonment in Arkansas?

I lived with 2 roommates in Russellville, Ar. Some “friends” of ours asked if they could store their furniture and some clothes and things in our apartment, as they did not have a place for it where they were living temporarily. We were supposed to get a house there with them when our lease was out at the apartment.
After that, we could not find a big enough house, and my roommates and I moved to a duplex by ourselves. We called and told them they needed to come and get their things and they said to just move it with our things, as they still didnt have a place for it. A month later, we had to move again, due to unrelated circumstances, and could not get ahold of them at all to come and get their things. We called them everyday for 2 weeks to no avail. As we could not move their things, yet again, we left the stuff there. Now, these people are calling and threatening to press charges because we “stole their stuff”.
What I am wondering is, can they do anything about it? We did not steal anything, they left it with us and refused to come and get it. When we were unable to carry their stuff around with us, we left it..
I have done searches on the internet and cannot find anything regarding the matter.
EDIT: It was almost 3 months from the time they left their stuff and when we moved the first time.
Also, we are going to the police station tomorrow morning about the threatening voicemails we are receiving from them. What can I expect there, if I may ask?

I’m sure the threatening voicemails will interest the police.
You have no obligation to store or take care of other people’s property. Unless you signed some sort of contract? Even then, it wouldn’t be a valid contract unless they paid you some compensation.
Relax about theft.
Consider a restraining order against your ex-friends.

i’m not sure but I believe the law is on your side with this unless there was a written paper saying that you would care for their belongings. I hope the police will give you some help on the voice mail situation too. Like maybe giving THEM a voice mail that they will hear and make them think twice about calling again. I mean really, how long were you supposed to cart their stuff around? I’m from Arkansas too.
