what time of day should i eat a protien bar? Before ar after a workout? how about before bed?

i’m looking to only eat 1 bar a day so whats the best time?

  1. I don’t think it matters. It all goes to the same place, anyway. But if it upsets your stomach, don’t do it before exercise.

  3. You should eat a protien bar after a workout. Your body after workout has a 30 min period where the protien can be used best.

    definitely not before bed. all that energy from the protein would go to waste. my male friends all drink their protein shakes right after a workout, so i’d assume bars would be the same way.

  6. Never before bed it takes too long to digest the best time to eat is before you exercise, make sure you eat two well balanced meals and drink fluids in between. Take water with you when working out so you do not get dehydrated.

  7. first off whats your goal here? wieght lose? muscle gains? i takein close to 230 grams of protien a day, and when it comes to protien you can never get enough. i say if you want it in bar form, eat it before your workout, but have a protien shake after your workout, your body needs 30 grams protien/ 80 grams simple carbs after a workout to fully recover. dont worrie if take in the protien/carbs right after it wont go to fat

  8. Most bodybuilders and athletes drink their protein several times a day but always just prior to as well as just after their workouts. The protein bars are good for anyother time throughout the day and yes, before bedtime is ok too. Be sure to get your protein from multiple sourses other than shakes and bars.

  12. Your body is most receptive at two times. in the morning when you first get up, that starts your metabolism, and after a workout, your body then absorbs protein like a sponge.

  14. i’d think 30 minutes before you work out, if your stomach gets upset try an hour before that. Your stomach should have enough time to process with 20 min though. Then eat another to rebuild the muscle you lost

  16. One hour prior to or after your workout. Oh, by the way, protein bars aren’t for energy. Energy bars are. The difference is the amount of simple and complex carbs in the bar. Traditionally, protein bars have fewer carbs. You derive energy from the carbs, not the protein.

  19. In the morning you should eat oatmeal or bread but definately NOT a protein bar (your stomach can’t take it first thing). You can eat a protein bar after a work-out (within about 20 minutes) to build mass but otherwise there really is no need to eat protein bars. In fact, they aren’t that good for you (or your kidneys) Drink a ton of water with your protein bar to stay healthy.

  20. before u work out because it will help u use it quicker, then just sitting in ur stomach when u sleep and becoming unused, its a waste of it that way.

  24. if its the kind that gives you energy then before the workout. Beans are extremely high in protiens. try eating them after the workout.

  25. if you eat before, you’ll have energy to lift more, if you eat after, you’ll regain the energy you lost, and be able to lift longer…eating before bed would keep you up until it is digested
