I dont know much about Cal Tech but Arkansas Tech is a very good school. Everyone I know that has gone there, loved it. I think for being a small school they offer a lot of different programs/majors. Arkansas is beautiful and the location of AR tech is great. Its right between Fort Smith and Little Rock an hour from each.
I live in Arkansas and I am also thinking of going to tech next year

I do not want to be blunt, but there is no comparison. This is like asking who is a better painter: Snookers the painting elephant, or Michelangelo? Sure, Snookers might be good for a painting elephant, but there really is no comparison.
Caltech is a world-famous university that has ranked in the top ten universities for decades. If you narrow your criteria down to science universities, then it is even better. Caltech students have the highest average SAT score of any university in the world. Caltech students, on average, win more Nobel Prizes than any other school. Caltech’s financial resources, per student, are twice that of MIT and four times that of schools like Harvard and Princeton. It is not uncommon to see Kip Thorne walking Stephen Hawking down the path at Caltech. Einstein was a frequent visitor. There are few areas of science or engineering in which at least one of Caltech’s professors is a respected leader in the field. It is undeniably one of, if not the, best science and engineering school in the world.
On the other hand, I have never heard of Arkansas Tech University.
There is simply no comparison.
Of course, Caltech is quite difficult to get into. As I said, it has the highest average SAT scores and requires much more than SAT scores. But if you can get into Caltech, you would be silly to turn it down for an obscure tech school, simply because you want to get out of California.
