Wow! Thanks for the lengthy article. Can you do us all a favor and post this to a blog or something instead?

I read the whole thing.
1) I did not find it useful, as I have no ill will towards Iranian people nor do I have any prejudices towards Iranians. You clearly have a lot of pride in your country and your heritage, and that is great.
2) do not assume that all Americans hate Iranians, also do not assume that we support Bush, you will find that the majority of the people in the USA do not support Bush.
3) I don’t understand why women are not allowed into soccer games? That seems silly to me. Shouldn’t everyone have equal rights?

Thank you for laying it all out for your foreign friends!! I think Iran’s pretty cool… This country got some beef with it due to the whole ayatollah thing and the hostages and whatnot, but hey, we should really let by-gones be by-gones… I have great respect for your president, and enjoy his kind and insightful words which he posts on his official presidental blog. (http://www.ahmadinejad.ir/) I wish my president were as techno-savvy!! Does the good doctor, your President Ahmadinejad, also own an Ipod??
I think your country plays a pretty interesting role in today’s current affairs. The U.S. administration has been using your country and people as scapegoats to blame for how horrible our invasion of Iraq has been going. Our administration, in the “land of the free” has resisted all accountability for misleading this country to war, and also for not having a realistic strategy for resolving this bloody conflict. As one of the major states in the region who still function and haven’t been bombed to embers, Iran is really one of the few political entities in the region that can actually do anything to help the situation in Iraq. If the American people follow the threats and nasty dialogue our public officals spout about Iran, we will invade Iran next, and then that will leave essentially no stable states in the region. The Middle East has got some serious problems these days, and a powerful state like Iran is absolutely necessary to maintain some order in the region. Our countries need to put our differences aside and work together if your neighbor to the West is ever going to get back onto its feet, and American forces can leave the area.
We Americans get shook up about our news media reporting supposed “threats” and calls for the destruction of Israel. I don’t know if many Americans remember that yes, after World War II, the English essentially did cut out a nice piece of Palestinian land to form the Hebrew state, reinforced with Western military technology and training. As for me, Israel kinda has it coming… They’ve been on borrowed land for too long, however I doubt anybody will be able to force them to move. However, that’s a whole other issue.. I would first like to see our American troops leave Iraq, and for a respectful dialogue to exist between Tehran and Washington.
Again, thanks for taking the time to express and explain an informed Iranian citizen’s point of view on the state of affairs today. I whole-heartedly agree that our respective leaders talk a lot of garbage about each other simply to rile their citizens against each other, to perpetuate enemy roles, and to distract the masses from what is really going on. The war in Iraq needs to stop. Acheiving peace is paramount compared to bitter rivalries with a nation who could certainly be a powerful ally in our so-called ‘war on terror’.
bin laden bombs the u.s.
bin laden was a saudi.
the u.s. bombs iraq.
the saudi’s are still our buddies. we continue to fill our monsterous SUVs with saudi oil @ $3.69/gal.
iraq is still a mess.
we begin smack talk against iran
…no end in sight.
none of it makes any sense to me, man…… Let’s hope these recent diplomatic talks bear some fruit for today’s generation and generations to come…
best wishes and peace to you!
good luck!

WHEW!!! Thank you for your essay and I’m in disagreement with whether you should’ve posted it on here or not. Yahoo answers is a great forum to get how you feel and get a discussion started. I myself write lengthy ones as I have so much to say! I took the time to read it and it’s very useful info.
I live in a very small city in America. Some people her in the USA think the same about us, that we’re barbaric, have no sense of fashion or any opinion that matters. Like we never get out of this small town and go to the big city, so I can relate to how you feel. By the way, if a big city is so great to live in, how come they’re moving to the smaller towns to get away from it all!
Anyway,I think we have all learned from the past up to the present who’s lying and who’s telling the truth and we leave it to our elected officials to make decisions for us and it seems like here lately, they do as they darn well please and not the will of the people which is pi**ing people off. We showed Bush our strength during the last election when we voted for an all Democrat House and Senate control.Bush is a Republican, he hated it of course. But it seems like the man has gone mad and we need to put the brakes on him. People talk about impeachment, there are so many websites dedicated to impeaching him and signing a petition but what good would it do? He only has one more year left and impeachment process can get caught up in red tape with good lawyers and it will buy time for him. And besides, it doesn’t make sense to elect someone new when he’s the one who put us in Iraq!Everyone here hates that stupid decision he made. It was not a well thought out plan and now we all know it. Too late. But we do stand behind our soldiers there as they are doing what our government says. Did you know a lot of those soldiers are recruited from the poor sections of America? They make big promises but even they have a hard time finding a job once they get out.
I’ve never been outside the USA to really form an opinion about any country let alone Iran, but I’ve always figured they are just like us,have the same feelings and exposed to the rest of the world just like us.The pictures we see of Iranians, who cares, it’s their customary dress, doesn’t mean they’re barbaric. The media shows us what they want us to see to back up their story, otherwise it wouldn’t sell.MOST,and I stress most, of the people I know, know that’s it’s all politics and as usual, the USA is butting in.
Most of the kids today don’t even know what the Iranian hostage crisis is.It’s history to us.
I agree totally that there is a new generation coming up and they are our future leaders. Let’s hope that they are ones who want world peace instead of strife. Who want to negotiate so we can all live in this world together before we destroy what’s left of it.
Thank you for caring and sharing.

This is very interesting. I honestly am not familiar with Iran. I would like to check out some of your links when I have time. I hope you don’t mind that I copied this to put on my “myspace blog” as a different point of view on the state of Iran from what we usually see. There are alot of haters on here, but don’t be discouraged. If they didn’t like the question, they shouldn’t have responded to it. Any way, I’m not sure what conclusion I draw. I KNOW the media is biased, and exposes us to the problems with terrorists, etc., but we’re not offered a look at the GOOD. I think it’s important for people to look at as much info as possible, and then make up their own minds, not conclude that what the reporters and editors feed us is the truth. Anyway, Best wishes!

I am an United States Citizen who agrees with the fact the war on Iran is not a good war; It is an example of a government utilizing scare tactics to abuse human rights overseas. I hate that the war interrupts your country’s rights to love, joy, and peace. I agree with the another countries right to play big sister, but good big sisters are loving and will do just enough “damage” to get rid of terrorist and protect human rights in every nation, not just the United States. May Immanuel restore your nation and all of the broken hearts. If you don’t know already, there are a lot of “silent” US citizens on your side.

Didn’t find it that useful bc. most of the facts are common knowledge, like the airplane shot down by the Ticonderoga etc.But then again, I’m german, we probably have a different perspective on this.
The current tension between the Iran and the EU/US is not based on past conflicts, but on fears that Iran is trying to get the nuclear bomb. All Iran would have to do to prove that wrong would be to allow inspectors back in Iran. Not to do so is very suspicious to us.
Most western countries are determined to defend Israel, if need be.What Ahmadinedjad has said about Israel and the Holocaust is inacceptable (I’m a history student so i know Holocaust history very well).
A war between Iran and US/EU should be avoided, if possible. However, western countries cannot accept that Iran
a) gets nuclear bombs (because of b)
b) tries to eradicate Israel
I’m afraid that in case of a or b there will be war. This has nothing to do with the Iranian people, their religion or their history, however.
